The city of Elphton is the capital city of Vaheria. It is the seat of Vaheria's government and economy and as such is the spiritual heart of the Vaherian Kingdom. Not geographically though because that's impractical. Citizens of Elphton are known as Elphtonians. There is a strict zoning ordinance in place (by Royal decree) to ensure the Elizabelphian aesthetic of the city is maintained.
Controversy surrounding the name[]
Elphtonians are very touchy about their city's name being likened to that of a bitter old Queen, so anyone caught doing so is to be beheaded.
It is a little-known fact that the severed heads of persons who broke this law are mounted on spikes at the entrance to the The Tower; with most visitors to the city assuming they are the heads of more serious traitors. The heads are still living and are returned to their owners upon their departure from Vaheria.
